Football's a game, racism isn't primism.

That's why many of us have been involved in the charity show racism the red card for years.

But far from giving racism the red card, the Prime Minister gave it the green light.

And I'll tell you the worst kind of gesture politics, Mr Speaker.

Putting an England shirt on over a shirt and tie whilst not condemning those, booing is the worst kind of gesture.

Israel, what did you make of Kirstama's performance today?

Well, I mean, it was a sort of easy, it was an easy topic for him to pursue because the Conservative Party has

really tied itself up in knots over this issue of taking the knee, partly because it took

the stance against taking the knee at the start of the tournament when it wasn't clear how well

the England team were going to do. But really, you know, it was obvious and has long been obvious

that footballers are more popular than politicians.

And so to pick a fight with them, particularly this cohort of footballers who are, you know, they're not just footballers who football fans admire.

They're footballers who children admire who your mom admires because they're sort of nice boys.

And they have done all these social justice

campaigns not just Marcus Rashford but but others they talk quite movingly about their backgrounds

about their experiences of racism in particular and so it's very difficult for white

conservative MPs to object to the gesture that those footballers have chosen to take a
