Summary
The rise of the “nones” in the religious demographics of our society has been among the most troubling trends for many Christians across recent decades. However, the nones haven’t really grown in the last five years, and their numbers have actually started to fall among the younger generations. As it becomes clearer who is walking by faith and who has “faith” by works, let us answer our calling to share the gospel with those who need it today.

| 0:39.1 | However, the latest data points to an interesting and encouraging trend. |
| 0:43.7 | When the General Society survey first began to follow nuns back in 1972, |
| 0:50.1 | they comprised roughly 5% of the total population. |
| 0:53.7 | The nuns stayed in the 5 to 6% range until 1991, |

| 1:08.1 | However, the nuns haven't really grown in the last five years, ranging between 34 and 36% |
| 1:14.3 | of the total population. And what's perhaps most encouraging, their numbers have actually started to |
| 1:20.5 | fall among the younger generations. Similar findings have also been reported in both the |

| 1:30.3 | As Ryan Burge, who has studied and written about the nuns for many years, concludes, |
| 1:35.3 | the rise of the nuns may be largely over now. At least it won't be increasing in the same way that it did in the prior 30 years, in quotes. |
| 1:45.3 | That's good news. |
| 1:49.5 | Yet, he goes on to note the most pertinent question is, why? |
| 1:53.0 | One of the dangers with placing too much emphasis on trends is the temptation to think that they'll continue unabated into the future. |
| 1:57.3 | That danger has led to quite a bit of the hand-wringing in Christian circles as report after |
