Okay, John Chapter 17, verses 1 and 2

is all we're going to look at today.

Jesus has just given some very weighty teachings to its disciples, telling them hardship is coming,

and their belief needs to be true belief, not just because of the miracles, not just because of the

because of the teaching that they've heard but truly because they believe

he is the Messiah the king of the universe and so here in John 17 he turns to God the Father in prayer.

Now I don't know how that strikes you to think about Jesus, God in the flesh,

having a conversation with God the Father, and we get to listen in.

This really is a very privileged and special passage of scripture because we get to hear this transparent and open interaction between Jesus and his father.

It says in verse 1, when Jesus had spoken these words, meaning what he just said to his disciples, he lifted up his eyes to heaven and said,

Father, the hour has come.
