Hello and welcome to the Americano podcast, a series of discussions about American politics,

power and prejudices. This year, 2024, is an election year in America, a presidential election year. And so we will be doing two podcasts a week, rather than our usual one, because we want to,

and because we know you can't get enough Americano in your life.

I am delighted to be joined by a friend of the spectator, a friend of the Americano show, and indeed a columnist for Spectator World, Bridget Fetesey, the great Bridget Fetasey, I should say.

And we're going to be talking about a slightly gloomy subject, I'm afraid, Bridget, which is, are we all suffering from election fatigue?

Because with this, I can't tell what this is just me

because I've been covering it a lot and I'm getting a bit fed up with just how much there has

been to cover this year. But it's occurred to me in recent days, you know, we had the row over

Arlington Cemetery. We had Putin endorsing Harris yesterday. These are stories that

normally one would get quite excited about and I think people generally would get quite excited

about. But I think because of the amount of drama we've had this year, people are just

exhausted and it's almost as though the divine scriptwriters of the 2024 election have jumped the sharks

and now nobody quite cares.
