This is CBS Eye on the World. Here's John Batchelor. A statement from the U.S. government to Harvard College,

but all universities in reach of the concerns of the Trump administration about prejudice.

It reads, by August 2025, the university shall commission an external party which shall

satisfy the federal government as to its competence and good faith to audit the student body, faculty, staff,

and leadership for viewpoint diversity, such that each department, field, or teaching unit,

must be individually viewpoint diverse.

That's the U.S. government, Trump administration speaking.

This quote from an article at Real Clear Politics, a column by Peter Berkowitz of the Hoover

Institution, who joins me now, to give the background for that statement, what has been

said by the administration most recently at a security conference, famous, in Munich, Germany, by the

vice president.

And what is to be done by those who are sympathetic to the challenge, that is, that

Harvard College has been prejudiced against political diversity in this country for some time.

And one way to go about it and another way to go about it, choosing signatories who are on the right of center

and choosing not to confront and effectively issue a document that says you will have a commissar sit in on all your meetings.

The Munich conference, the vice president, spoke, and it was a message to Europe that, what is it, people in glass houses,

heard and throw stones?

It was something like that.

What did he say that upset our European allies?

Well, J.D. Vance in mid-February at the Munich National Security Conference,

which is one of the biggest gatherings in the world for national security experts
