Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell has put public safety at the forefront of his administration. This week, he held the

first in a series of public safety forums to hear from community members about their concerns.

KUOW reporter Casey Martin will tell us what went down in a minute, but first, let's get you caught up.

The University of Washington is getting a grant to research an understudied mental health symptom, hallucinations.

The National Institute of Mental Health is providing U-dub over $12 million to create a digital evaluation tool for people who experience hallucinations.

The university says 13% of people in the U.S. have experienced a hallucination, and they can be

symptoms of things like substance abuse and schizophrenia.

A ride on the Washington State fairies got more expensive this week.

The annual peak season surcharge went into effect on Wednesday. Fares for vehicles are

increasing by anywhere between 25% and 35%, but you'll avoid the increase if you're just going on foot.

And of course, senior passengers ride for half price and youth ages 18 and under ride free on all

routes. And Mount Rainier visitors reservations for the month of August opened up yesterday, and there are still spots available.

Mount Rainier National Park has instituted a timed entry reservation for its peak season, following other national parks across the country.
