Hi there, Jen here, and this is a happy bit. On our last happy bit, we spoke about yin and yang energy.

Yin being the energy of relaxation and restoration and Yang being the energy of achievement and

accomplishment. So sometimes we try our best to balance these two things, but we're still finding

that we need more time to relax. And I know a lot about this as a mom of six kids.

Often after I've finished the laundry or cooked a meal, I'll want to finally take that relaxation.

I'll sit down with a book and begin to read.

And inevitably, within minutes, somebody will approach me to say, mom, he did this, or, Mom, can you help me find?

Blank. And so there's yet another problem to solve. One day, it occurred to me. I felt like I was in the

deep end of a pool, treading water, just barely keeping my head above the water. My kids were particularly needy that day and I just hadn't

had a break in a long time. And the thought came to me, get out of the water. Swim over to the side of the pool and

get out. This means taking a break completely away from my kids and family and having that quiet time just for myself.

Sometimes I might drive to a local park and take a long hike for several hours.

Sometimes I might even go out of town and visit friends.

The point is to get out of the water and find that quiet, restorative time alone.

I've noticed when I do this, the stress starts to peel

away like the layers of an onion, and I come back so much happier and so much more excited to be around

my kids and to do my life again. So I'm going to give you a challenge to examine your life and figure

out ways or times when you can get out of the water. Get them on the calendar

and make them happen and you'll find you'll be less stressed and more calm and rejuvenated
