0:04.2	I want to talk in this happy bit about teaching your kids to like themselves.
0:08.4	And today I'm going to emphasize the idea that we all have a story about each of our kids.
0:14.8	Even me, I have all kinds of stories about my kids, such as my two oldest kids are hard,
0:20.8	or my kids all have ADHD, or my kids all have ADHD or my
0:22.8	kids are alphas or whatever.
0:24.8	We all have stories and then we start to believe these stories and we then create a mold
0:30.3	around that.
0:31.5	So if we want to teach our kids to like themselves, maybe we need to analyze our stories that
0:36.6	we tell about them and make sure that
0:38.3	they are empowering and positive. So I want you to think for a moment, what are the stories
0:43.9	you tell about your children? Maybe you have a sweet little girl named Mary and you have a
0:51.1	sassy little wild boy named Tommy.
0:55.8	Do you see what I'm doing?
1:02.2	We pull in all of these social stereotypes when we create these stories that may or may not be true.
1:06.0	And our kids will often live up to the stories we create for them.
1:11.1	So maybe you take a moment now and pause this happy bit or pull out your journal as soon as you're done and write down all the stories you have for each of your kids.
1:15.0	Positive or negative.
1:16.7	Neutral even.
1:18.0	Write them down and analyze.
1:19.7	Would this help them like themselves?
1:21.9	Maybe even take it to the next level and talk to your kids and ask them.
