So it's February and that means sometimes your family can catch the flu.

need to. Take a nap. I had a few homebirths with my kids and I had midwives who assisted with those. Well, I remember at our

appointments, the prenatal appointments before the births, they pulled my husband aside and said,

Dad, an important rule for you. It is your job to make sure your wife stays in bed, on the bed,

or around the bed for two weeks. So they said we had five days of each,

five days in bed, five days on the bed, five days around the bed. The idea of rest. And he took it

seriously. And so every time I had a baby, it was one of the best two weeks of my life. Because I got to

rest. I didn't have to do a thing.

How can you build more rest into your life? Our bodies cycle. We go up and down. We have times

of ovulation and higher energy and then progesterone phase right after that where things

settle down a little lower and the energy decreases, we cycle,

right? But sometimes we think we should always be up. Well, if it's true that we cycle,

then shouldn't we have times when we rest? And the same is true. In the seasons, we cycle.

Summer is a higher energy time where we're outside. Winter is a time to pull
