Summary

Happiness Walks For years, I've built a reputation for being a guy that never misses a chance for a good conversation. Sometimes I head out the door for a good old-fashion "Talkabout" - an ode to Crocodile Dundee's "Walkabout." I'm not sure when it began, but since exploring life's possibilities is a core value, I know why; there is no better way to learn something new than striking up a random conversation with another human.  But there are rules: 1) You must be focused on exploring and open to following whatever direction the conversation goes. No judgment. No challenging.  2) Your mouth should be open as little as possible. Everything you say should focus on learning more from the person in front of you. 3) No matter what you hear, remember that you checked your ego; you are here to listen and learn. When you feel the need to make it about you, it's time to move on to the next conversion. Maybe I should start calling them "Listenabouts." Learn more about your ad choices. How are you? Happy, happy, happy, happy. What is today? That's Wednesday, okay. We're talking about happiness today and walking and happiness.

Do you take walks for happiness? It's a it's a super secret weapon to making you happy as long as your mind's in the right place or maybe a gratitude walk and that kind of gives away what it's supposed to be. For me lately, it's been inside an infrared sauna an hour, four days a week. It's locked in there.

Basically doing a gratitude walk without moving my feet. We'll talk about that today and why you should be doing it. It is the daily boost from motivation to move calm. The positive boost you need every single day. It is life begins when you move. It's moving. This is nothing new. It's been around forever ever since mankind has been around.

You're a woman kind, person kind, whatever kind it is these days. I know idea. But we understood you got to go if you're going to do something right. Michelle Obama stole it from me. She did. She got up one morning and she said, listen to Scott's podcast. He talks about moving a lot. And then somebody called her and said, come on TV. Michelle, what's the what's your message for America? You caught a move. See? I'm telling you she stole it from me. But it's going to run forever. We all borrow from each other. That's what happens. And that's what you need to do. And what happens when when we move? It gets challenging. It does.

And then we just, okay, fine. We stand up. We take a step. We repeat. We go after what we make it happen until we get exactly what we want. And that's what I want for you. Now come real close.

1:37.0

My name is Scott Smith. Nice to meet you, by the way. I'm be somewhat unorthodox, founder and chief motivating officer and podcaster five days a week of the daily boost.

1:49.0

Now, if you're just arriving these days, you might be thinking, wait a second. Here's another guy that's going to teach me about motivation, about productivity, about all the stuff that everybody talks about.

1:57.0

We include that in everything. But you want the really inside secret to what the show is. You want to come into the vision of what the show is and what's lasted so long.

2:04.0

And why some people hate me and some people love me. And a lot of still trying to figure it out, depending on the day I want him talking about, you know what the secret is?

2:10.0

This is not that show. This is not a show that shows up and says, I'm going to teach people how to be happy. I don't even try. That's your job. Not mine.

2:17.0

No, no, no, no. I made a decision a long time ago. I'm a former radio guy. I was in radio when I first got into the working world.

2:25.0

And I made a decision when I started the show. I said, what I want to do is I want to bring a show that is very much like doing a maybe a morning radio show and yet the content's good for you.

2:33.0

And you learn from it. John Tesch does that in the middle of the days down the radio these days. I chose podcasting. That's what it is.

2:39.0

So don't get all serious about it. It's about having some fun. It's about being a little bit crazy. Kind of like Adam Corolla talking about motivation. That's kind of the same thing, right?

2:46.0

That's what this is all about. No, it's not Tony or Brendan. They do other stuff. I don't do what they do. I'm much more fun than they are.

2:52.0

Anyway, nice to have you here today. Thanks for stopping by and give you. Yeah, that's part of the thing. That's part of the thing of being here. So today, I want to talk about happiness.

3:04.0

Happiness, happiness, happiness, being happy. And I also want to talk about exercise. I don't want to talk about taking a walk, getting out of the house, doing stuff out of the house. Oh my God.

3:14.0

I was out of the house the other day, taking a walk around the block and walk fast. Two people still wearing a mask.

3:19.0

I don't know whether wearing a mask. It may not have been pandemic oriented. That's it. Maybe a health issue. That's fine. But it's a lot. These days outside in the bright sunshine.

3:27.0

But you should take a walk. We'll talk about that today. For years, I have built a reputation of being a guy who is as you might know has never missed a chance for a good conversation.

3:42.0

Some people call it taking a people bath. I don't stay in my office all day. I don't stay to myself all day. I like a lot of time to myself. But I also understood that I need to get out there and just kind of bathe myself in people until they make me feel dirty.

3:54.0

I want to leave because it does happen, right? But sometimes I take a good old fashioned. Remember the old fashioned movie, old fashioned movie, the old movie called crocodile Dundee. Remember that movie?
