When we come to the end of an overwhelming project, sometimes it's fitting to stop everything, pull the team together, and celebrate the achievement.

Milestone moments deserve a celebration.

Well today on Insight for Living, Chuck Swindall invites us to look at Nehemiah Chapter 12.

In this passage we read about the completion of a new wall around Jerusalem and the celebration

that ensued.

The Israelites had every reason to sing and dance,

not as a tribute to Nehemiah, but to the God he served.

Chuck titled his message,

happiness is a walk on the wall.

The people of Israel have begun to move back into the city, commerce is beginning again, there is a

renewed vision, though there is not a renewed scene physically it's still rather bleak.

The wall is finished, broad, stable, strong, well-constructed, well-engineered, well-designed. They are led to dedicate

this project to God. And that's what we find in this passage of 1227 through 47.

We find a dedication of the wall and we find much more than that. We find a people whose hearts are really rejoicing.

Now let's look to begin with at some preliminary factors that had to do with the dedication of

this wall.

Will you notice them with me in 27 through 30?

The passage says in verse 27 at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought out the

Levites.

Who would be the they of this verse? Well, verse 26 tells us Nehemiah and Ezra.

And so it says in the 27th verse that they sought out the Levites from all their places.
