The vessel reached Tenerife and Spain's Canary Islands on May 10th, with coordinated evacuations transferring people

under medical oversight to home countries. The trail leads back to a Dutch couple exposed

during birdwatching in southern Argentina, likely through rodent contaminated sites before boarding

in April 1st. The husband died aboard on April 11th, his wife soon after in South Africa.

Scores of fellow passengers had already disembarked at St. Helena and spread across continents

before any virus connection emerged. Authorities now monitor contacts in the U.S., Europe,

New Zealand, and other spots. One American showed mild positivity after return.

The Andes variant has a documented capacity for a limited human-to-human transmission through extended close contact, distinct from

typical hant virus strains that stay tied to rodent droppings. Officials maintain it needs
