Free Trail podcast, where today we are joined by Hannes Namburger. Honest may be a newer name to some of you,

but this guy had an absolutely stellar 2021 season with world-class performances. It's some of the

most important races on the European

circuit, and I've wanted to talk to him ever since. And from what I've heard, this German

athlete, Hannes, takes the sport super seriously. He's got a very professional approach

and has a ton of potential to be a force on the scene, on the international level, four years to come.

Hannes first landed on my radar when he won and set the course record at the Lavorado Ultra Trail in Italy last June.

Again, one of the most important biggest races on the European circuit.

He then went on to finish sixth at UTMB, his first

100-mile race, a very solid, respectable debut, and then closed his year with a dominant win at the

Madeira Island Ultra in November. Again, one of Europe's biggest, most important races, and

Hanas won by 40 minutes.

We talk about Hanas' background as a professional skier in this conversation.

We talk about how injury took him out of that sport and introduced him to trail running.

We talked about his 21 season in all those races I just mentioned and what he has planned ahead for 2022.
