The coaching search is, by all reports, getting near a conclusion as the Lakers are down to three candidates: Milwaukee assistant coach Darvin Ham, former Portland head coach Terry Stotts, and former Brooklyn head coach Kenny Atkinson. Three very different names, with different qualifications, strengths and weaknesses, and no one candidate sticks out as the obvious choice. Given who is available, it's a reasonable group to narrow down to, but how do the Lakers make the final choice? Should it be the potential of Ham, who has never been a head coach before? Atkinson, who had a successful-if-strange stint with the Nets? Or the safe-and-unsexy Stotts, with a long track record in Portland?
