She says, hi Danny, back in the 1960s I was living on an

R. A. F. base. I was playing hide and seek with my sisters and brothers. My

sister started counting. We were on the edge of the airfield and it was a grassy hump in front of me

with a brick entrance going inside it, so I quickly ran inside to hide. I could hear my sister

starting to hunt for us outside. After my eyes got used to the dimness, I saw a lady standing in front of me.

She was dressed in a uniform, cap, and had a shoulder bag.

I remember thinking that she looked nice. She was staring at me. I didn't feel scared, but I decided to go and get my older sister to come and see her. So I ran outside. My sister came back with me, but the lady had gone.

If the lady had left, she would have been seen by my sister who was only yards away outside.

Back at home at tea time, we told my parents and my father told us that I'd run into one of the old air raid

shelters that were used in the war. We never went back to play there again because my dad said that area

of the airfield was now out of bounds. But 60 years later, I have never forgotten that lady.
