It wouldn't be Halloween without trick-or-treating, a tradition that goes back centuries,

but became super popular with a proliferation of mass-produced candy.

As more folks got into the festivities, so did parents' anxieties over their kids' candy being poisoned by wicked strangers.

But for all the fear-mongering out there, over the past hundred years, there have only been a handful of cases involving kids being hurt or killed by tainted treats and it was

usually the kids own parents who did the dastardly deed.
