Where does stories come from?

Arthur Harlan Ellison used to joke that he bought his

at a little story shop.

It might be said that they come from a potent combination of

experience and imagination.

Stories that last feel grounded in the real world,

and no matter how fanciful the imaginative elements are,

it's one of the reasons I so love the work of Stephen King.

His tales are set in a world we all live in, recognize, experience,

and then when a door opens into the supernatural,

we accept his fights of imagination.

His characters are us, and we personally experience the horrors he has

wrought, because we live in that world.
