| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the Black Girl Burnout podcast, Kelly here, and we are continuing our conversation with Jody Taylor. |
| 0:16.1 | Next, we're going to deep dive into the framework Jody has developed for you to learn how to crack your |
| 0:22.6 | authentic code, how to have that glow up. This information and advice is timeless. It doesn't |
| 0:28.2 | matter where you are in your journey. Jody is going to break it all the way down. So if you're |
| 0:33.6 | able to grab a pen because she is going to be dropping a lot of knowledge about the |
| 0:38.5 | domains of the glow up and the domains of really coming home to yourself and how to improve and |
| 0:45.1 | build the best version of you. Let's check it out and drop into the conversation and hear what |
| 0:50.4 | Jody has to say. |
| 1:28.6 | We are back with Jody. I'm already excited about this conversation. I'm already like, girl, I wish we could have like three hours to deep dive into like five different things. Jody's like, I don't got time for this. I have... No, we got time. Let me know. I can get comfortable. I have no, no shame. I'm like, oh, I can talk to you forever. But you did mention something and the last segment that we just talked about, about really what the glowup was for you, which was this alignment. But you talked about unlocking this authentic code. So could you walk us through a little bit more of what that means in your framework? Because like you said, when people hear glow up, they think, |
| 1:32.5 | okay, girl, you got a new makeup routine. Okay, girl, you went to a stylist. For you, what is the glow |
| 1:38.1 | up and how do you break it down? Because you do have this really great framework for how you've achieved |
| 1:43.4 | the glow up. I want to hear more about it. |
| 1:45.3 | Yeah, yeah, yeah. |
| 1:46.0 | So there's sort of two parts to this. The first part is like sort of like the alignment piece. And so when I think about my own glow up journey, once again, the impetus was therapy. So I was in therapy. My therapist was like, girl, you don't know yourself. and I think it was probably like 28, 29 at the point, at that point. |
| 1:43.5 | And I was like, ah, what? |
| 1:45.2 | So that was just a period of rediscovered. you don't know yourself. And I think it was probably like 28, 29 at the point at that point. And I was |
| 2:01.1 | like, ah, what? So that was just a period of rediscovering. And there were some tools that I was able to |
| 2:07.9 | use to do that portion of it. The first one was something called the wellness wheel, which was basically |
| 2:13.4 | this concept of the different pillars of your well-being, rate them on a scale of one to ten. Anything below a five or a six, begin to interrogate and examine. So at that point, it was, we were still sort of in lockdown. So like social relationships were an area of opportunity for me, career fulfillment, and begin to understand why is this so low, what is the impetus? Maybe it's childhood. Maybe it's circumstantial. |
| 2:34.6 | That makes you feel low. So that was like one place where I was able to sort of reframe and understand |
| 2:39.5 | and begin to start to play around with the concept of designing your life and being able to change things. |
| 2:45.1 | And life is not the static thing. And you can zoom out, see what you're not liking and then kind of |
