James Acaster here. In 2017, I had a breakdown. And I dealt with that breakdown by buying as much music from 2016 as I

possibly could. As a result I now own over 600 albums that came out in 2016 and I'm

convinced it's the greatest year for music of all time but it's not enough me being

convinced also want to convince each and every single one of you plus a guest

every single week.

I'm going to send them an album in advance, they're going to listen to that album, then we're going to talk about it.

My guest this week is Gus Khan, and the album is Awo by You Can Dance.

You Can Dance are a group started by French guitarist Damien Cluzell and featuring a snakeet

Gabriaz who is an Ethiopian singer.

Now you might remember that last week we discussed Pixfay by Pixfay, which is Damian

Cluzele's other projects that came out in 2016, where he mixed

math rock with traditional Colombian music. This project is taking traditional Ethiopian music

and fusing it with more hard rock from like Black Sabbath era kind of rock and roll and his love

for that kind of stuff. Still involves some saxophone, sure, but I'm not

complaining. I love the saxophone and it absolutely kills it on this album.

Now let's see what Gus thinks about this. I don't know if Gus is into this kind of music at all.

If you're not into Gus Khan, then you're an idiot.
