One of the things that we talked about a good bit is the growth in interest in hunting hogs.

Well, the growth in interest comes from the growth of a problem, and that is the incredible

expansion of the hog population through large parts of the U.S.

The sheer numbers, the geometric progression of numbers in hog population is, at times it's actually almost frightening.

It's certainly disturbing.

It's a real issue.

Well, recently we had Andrew Chilkowitz from Trigion on here talking to him.

He said he had gone down and he was hunting hogs with an outfit.

We said, well, we've got to talk to these guys so we did we brought together the folks from hogs gone while joining us right now is the keith nichols hello keith how doing i'm doing great tom how are you sir

i'm good now what part of the you're in in Texas. What part of Texas are you in?

We are located in Cyprus, which is on Highway 290, just northwest of Houston, just leaving town, probably 10, 15 miles out of town.

Just right here in the middle of a little bit of everything. We can drive about an hour in any direction and be in rural

country where there's plenty of hogs. I promise you, and I can drive five minutes down the

road and catch them on a golf course. So they're everywhere.

Explain to folks who may not know what has happened with hog populations over the last five years

or so. Well, it's my understanding, and this is something that I've really just gotten involved

with in the last couple of years, but it's my understanding is that statistics, say, even back

as far as 1994, they were estimating about 2 million hogs in the entire U.S.

Now they're saying there are somewhere between 20 and 26 million, depending on the stats that you read and where you get your information.

A lot of the stuff that I read say they're over 2 million just in the state of Texas alone.
