Hello and welcome to The Daily Beans for Friday, October 28, 2022. Today, three Trump lawyers were seen leaving the Prittamon courthouse in DC today, taking part in a sealed hearing in the Mar-a-Lago documents case.

A judge will consider unceiling the privileged filings in the one six criminal probe. The Fulton County DA files her opposition to Lindsey Graham's appeal to testify.

John Eastman has filed a pretty please don't make me turn over more emails motion. The January 6th rioter who dragged officer Mike Fannon into the crowd has been sentenced to nearly eight years in federal prison.

The Department of Justice is seeking to compel Koch Patel's testimony in the documents case. And the January 6th committee is moving forward with top level secret service interviews.

Well, that was a pretty long intro to as well. I lot of news a lot of news today too. Yeah, and some good stories.

Yeah, and so I mean yesterday was a minute 13 that was our record were at 53 seconds today. But it's still quite a bit of news and later on the show I get to talk to congressman.

Tennessee's ninth rep Steve Cohen about the inflation reduction act and his 14th amendment legislation which could make it enforce.

Now it would be great. It would be great. It would also take away like lifetime earnings and secret service coverage and any other taxpayer stuff that goes to a former president who committed insurrection.

I think that's a good deal. I like that. I would support it. It seems fair to me. So we're going to have that discussion.

He's just absolutely he's such a cool guy. I got to hang out with him at the inflation reduction act ceremony. So we're going to talk talk about that too.

So anyway, cool show today. And then of course we'll have the good news, but we have a lot to get to. So let's hit the hot notes hot notes.

All right. There are now several federal criminal investigations into Donald Trump and I'll kick off with some news in the espionage investigation. The one in which he stole classified documents and took them to his weird beach party house down in Mara Lago. First up former president Trump's legal defense team and prosecutors handling the Mara Lago documents investigation met at the federal court house in Washington DC Thursday morning in a secret dispute related to the unprecedented investigation.

CNN spotted the lawyers, including Jim trustee Evan Corcoran and Lindsay Halligan and prosecutor Julie Edelstein and several others from the Justice Department who are known to be on the case heading into a sealed proceeding before chief judge barrel how at the federal court house on Thursday.

Their appearance in Washington is notable because this legal team typically appears in court in Florida or New York on the documents investigation.

But as we know chief judge barrel how heads up the grand jury. The development is the latest sign that prosecutors are attempting to move their investigation forward into the handling of documents from the Trump presidency after he left office.

Trump's lawyers declined to tell reporters why they were there. Though Trump's challenges to the search and seizure of Mara Lago in August have been before judges in Florida, a federal grand jury in Washington DC appears to be handling the criminal investigation into obstruction of justice and the mishandling of records, including national security secrets.

Close Trump advisor, Cosh Patel, who is designated to work with his records post presidency previously appeared before that grand jury two weeks ago and took the Fifth Amendment, planning to answer questions.

Another sign of prosecutors continuing to build their case. And speaking of Cosh Patel, the Department of Justice wants to question him about whether Donald declassified documents with his mind.

Now we know that when the DOJ subpoena, we know this right that when the DOJ subpoena, Donald in May, he responded in June on June 3rd, he when he did that he handed over 38 classified documents in a double taped red weld envelope and did not mention anything about having declassified any of them.
