So tonight's talk, guilt and shame.

I have no idea how I come up with the topics by the way.

They just kind of appear to me very often from the counseling work I do, meeting with individuals one-on-one

themes come up and it just seems like, okay, I guess I should be talking about this,

because it just seems to come up in a lot of the one-on-one

counseling.

So tonight's going to be about understanding the psychological

underpinnings of guilt and shame, the differences,

how certain degrees can be adaptive and healthy,

but very often can be pathological and lead to significant degrees of distress and lack of well-being. And we'll also, of course,

talk about ways to address and we will finally lead a

meditation that actively addresses the pathological forms of guilt and shame.

And then we'll have time for questions.
