Last summer, Donald Trump's former campaign manager Paul Manafort was put on trial related to charges

stemming from Robert Mueller's investigation into the president.

So he was convicted last August of eight financial crimes in Virginia.

And those charges include conspiracy, money laundering, family report, foreign bank accounts.

John Fasman is our Washington correspondent.

So initially, Paul Manafort got a plea deal from the special counsel from Robert Mueller's office.

But that plea deal was revoked because he was found to have lied to the FBI after he made it.

And he was found to have attempted to contact witnesses.

And so that was revoked and Manafort has remained in jail pending sentencing.

He was in jail leading up to his trial and he has been jailed since.

Mr. Manafort was the first and so far the only person to be convicted as part of the special counsel's investigation.

Today in Virginia, he'll be sentenced for his criminal wrongdoing.
