So, hello and welcome. Welcome here to meditate or to sit in the midst of all things, to learn the capacity to be in the midst of all things with an open heart,

clear eyes, kindness, and a degree of freedom that's not aloof, not distancing,

but spaceing, spacing,

making space for all things, for all people,

for all everything, so that the process of life, the unfolding of life, the evolution of life, the movement

of life is always moving, moving in a healthy way, harmonious way, because we live with it

in harmony with how things are.

And one of the wonderful little encapsulations of Buddhism, all of Buddhism, that Shunryo Suzuki, the Zen Master that started at San Francisco Zen Center,

and he encapsulated all the Buddhism apparently in three words. Jinriyo Suzuki, the Zen Master that started San Francisco Zen Center.

Not always so.

And whatever it is, whatever we think, whatever is happening,

it won't always be so. It's not always so. And that little wisdom,

kernel of wisdom, is wonderful for sitting in meditation so that we sit here in the present

moment, not an ec static moment, but kind of,

not an ecstatic moment,

but a little bit, whether we know it or not,

on the edge of the wave of time, the edge right in the present moment

where the back of the wave is already receded into the past, the front of the wave, where it's going,

has not appeared. We're riding the wave and you stay there and we learn to surf.
