| 0:19.0 | so on a moment, well,'ll sit, but just to say that a lot of different ways we can break down sitting, |
| 0:30.8 | but illuminate the different facets of what is entailed by meditation. |
| 0:41.0 | But one distinction that feels important to me is we're learning to train the attention, that kind of |
| 0:48.7 | of attention spotlight. And we're learning to stay open to not let the awareness collapse even when |
| 1:00.0 | intensity is running through our system through body and mind. |
| 1:07.0 | And we can get over-identified with the attentional facet of practice, of focus, this breaths, the kind of |
| 1:17.6 | stillness, seclusion. But part of why we do that actually is to strengthen the capacity just to stay |
| 1:28.9 | uncolapsed amidst intensity. |
| 1:33.0 | And we study collapse at a kind of micro level. |
| 1:37.0 | It may not happen in some major meltdown during a sit, |
| 1:41.0 | but there's a little micro meltdowns where something, even just the urge to, you know, |
| 1:50.4 | to scratch an inch is a subtle kind of meltdown that we pay attention to. |
| 1:59.2 | Okay, how did that happen? How did we get kind of overrun? |
| 2:05.0 | And we pay attention to those little micro collapses because |
| 2:15.0 | they happen in more significant ways in our lives. |
| 2:20.3 | So what does it mean to actually stay |
| 2:29.1 | stay open even as the kind of channels, the affective emotional channels are stimulated and might lead us to the kind of awareness collapsing into that intensity. |
