0:52.3 | stilling the mind in a way that leaves the mind not frozen or offline, |
0:58.1 | but leaves it kind of luminously awake and clear |
1:01.9 | and kind of a very peaceful, lucid awareness. |
1:10.5 | And then yesterday I talked about the process of |

1:21.3 | stilling the mind, not just calming it, but |
1:23.6 | letting go of clinging, a progressive process of clinging less and less and less, |
1:30.7 | less contraction, less tightness, less holding on, |
1:34.9 | until there's a feeling of kind of a phenomenal degree of freedom in the mind |
1:41.4 | because it's not disturbed by anything and it's not clenched or held |
1:46.2 | or resisting. It doesn't feel safe because that's too active to have that feeling and idea, |
1:55.2 | but it's a situation of predominant, pervasive kind of safety that is so safe, that you have safety and danger |
2:06.7 | disappears. And then today I want to emphasize that samadhi going through the janas as a progressive |
2:15.9 | stilling, quieting, or releasing, or dropping, |
2:24.6 | the activities of the mind that involve selfing, that involves taking something, using it to define who I am, commentary about oneself, |
2:39.1 | having concepts and ideas of who I am in some way that we're living in those concepts and |
