Hey guys, Guy here. Coming up on the show today, special, special teams. Bobby Hauk is the head coach

at Montana, FCS, one of the best FCS programs in the country. And he's the special teams coach there, too.

And then Iters took one of his guys, seventh round pick, junior Bergen, had eight punt returns for touchdowns. Not only does Bobby

Hawke know him well, but Bobby Hawk is tight with both of the 49ers new special teams coaches,

the head special teams coach and the special teams assistant. And I think it's really

interesting because you less and less find dedicated special

teams coaches in college football.

That could change a little bit now that there is no longer a rule about the number of

on-field coaches you're allowed to have.

There used to be a rule

where no matter how many coaches you had on staff in college, only whatever, like nine or

10 of those guys could actually get on the practice field and coach. Well, that rule's gone away.

You can have an unlimited number of coaches coach. And so maybe that means a special teams coach will come back. Because for a while,

they kind of went away because teams were trying to find the best ways to spend their money on

on-field coaches. And so they would maybe divide up responsibilities of special teams. Like, you know,

your outside linebacker coach would handle punt return and your

safety's coach would handle kickoff return and your tight ends coach would handle kickoff

coverage and that sort of thing. To the point that like I remember a few years ago going through

all the coaching staffs in the pack 12 and only only a couple of them, only, I mean,

less than half, and maybe it was like a quarter of them, had a special teams coordinator,

a dedicated special teams coordinator. What's interesting here is you know that honors are drafting

a guy who really cares about special teams. He's the head coach and he's the special teams coordinator.
