Boogaloo, I'm here with Anthony.

This week, the University of Limerick's own, Patrick McCarran, joins me to talk about

George R. Martens, the Ice Dragon.

This is a very short piece of children's literature.

I think that the entire book can be read in about an hour. Today we cover just the first four chapters of this book. So this week we'll

cover the first four. Next week we'll finish off the book. And then, after that, I will begin my

coverage of a storm of swords.

So that'll be in a couple weeks.

All right, without further ado, here is Dr. Padrick McAren.

I think we established before that we're going to cover the first four chapters of Martin's Ice Dragon today.

And it begins with this description. It says, Adara, liked the winter,

best of all, for when the world grew cold, the ice dragon came. She was never quite sure whether it was the cold that brought the ice dragon or the ice dragon that brought the cold so she's not sure

do you have a theory no actually i hadn't i think i treat this as the exact same with the

others or the white walkers right like you know when it gets cold they come but also they can't

come unless it's very cold i think it's some

kind of circular thing i think martin loves that kind of wordplay and uh i think it's the same with the

ice dragon uh as it keeps going maybe it does get more clear that um winter is getting longer

and the ice dragon is showing up more and more and maybe that's in

the beginning of chapter four when the villagers seem to have a view on this and that is

that the ice dragon is a problem the ice dragon is a problem like that's we we need a big problem

first for any story right the big problem in this story is kind of twofold.
