podcast. My name is Kevin. We are talking today about the Sweet Potato Vine,

ornamental Sweet Potato Vine, also known as Ipomea batatas. So this is

technically the sweet potato, but we're talking about varieties that are bred more for their leaves than

their tubers. So you'll find purple vine plants, green, red, bronze, multi-colored

leaves that range from Lacy to heart-shaped and even some rare trumpet-shaped flowers on these

ornamentals. Fantastic for houseplants and people also use them for ground cover.

So the first thing we'll talk about

are some of the most popular types.

There's a bunch of different varieties here,

but I'm gonna run over just a few of my personal favorites.

So first of all, you've got Ipumoya, but Tata's blackie.

These is a, it's not technically black, it's purple.

So these sweet potato vines so dark that they are nearly black and the leaf kind of

looks like a maple leaf and the flowers look like purple trumpets I guess you

could say so that's really cool when if you want a darker variety. Then you've got

Ipamoya Batata Sweet Caroline. This is variegated as all get out and it's got all sorts of different varieties there.

So Maple Leaf style appearance to the leaf, but a bunch of different colors, yellow, green,

red, purple, bronze, etc.

Next we've got the Margarita or Margarite variety,

which is a bright Chartruse color with a hint of yellow.
