Hello everyone, welcome back to the Epic Gardening podcast.

You are back with myself, Kevin Asperger 2 and Khaled the Plant Charmer, the founder

of Ingenious Farms and the longest running guest here on the Epic Gardening podcast.

So quite the intro and we're actually going to spice it up even more because we're talking

about growing melons.

And Khaled, this is one again, I haven't grown much of because of a space constraint.

Now I can and I'm really thinking about a pretty legitimate melon patch here at the Epic

homestead.

And so, you know, what are some things that I can do wrong and what are some things that

I can do right when I'm setting my melon patch up?

Okay, so melons, a lot of people want to grow them, they're delicious, they're a staple

of summer, but like you said, you know, they have their specifics.

And so what are the things I see people making doing in terms of mistakes is trying to

get too much out of one plant.

Now normally if you're growing these full size like 25 pound melons or whatever, you should

not be getting more than two melons per plant.

So a lot of people are going to allow as many fruit as possible to set.

But then what happens is again, the plant is diluted or dividing its energy in too many

fruits.

And if you're in a cooler climate like I am, sometimes or most of the time, they don't

even have time to ripen.

And so you get bad tasting melons which are again susceptible to pest attacks and disease
