What's up guys and girls welcome back to the epic gardening podcast today I am doing an

episode on growing a gigantic carrot I am obsessed with this I don't know know why. Tell me why if you know, but I really am obsessed with growing a giant carrot and something I'm going to do as we move into fall so I can get a fall crop of carrots of various sizes hopefully one of them is

gigantic. I did some research because I've never done this before and here's what I

For some reason it seems like a lot of people in the United Kingdom

are all about growing giant vegetables.

I don't know why, but I'm fascinated by it and I'm happy to learn from them.

So I did a search for how to grow giant carrots and here is what I found.

This is a guide from someone who grew a carrot that was 18.81 pounds.

So I'm probably going to take his word for it. Here we go. How to sew. Beginning of March

So, giant carrot seeds in a mixture of compost and vermiculite and a little six-month osmocote feed.

Place the toilet rolls in a three inch pot, put a little bit of compost to fill the pot halfway.

Place it on a heated propagator cover with polystyrene.

So it's very similar to how you would start any other type of seed. Now check the

carrots daily as soon as you see germination occur

then they need to be placed in a greenhouse.

So that means that the root will not be at the bottom of the pot and the tap root

Remember carrots are grown for their taproot, so you have to take care of it, unlike other plants where you can be a little bit more casual about how that taproot develops. Once these carrot seeds germinate, they can be planted outside or

inside, but you will have to cover them outside, so you might as well keep them

inside for a bit. Next, what you want to do is put them in barrels raised off the ground and the

barrels need to be a special mixture of soil because again we are growing them for a huge taproot we need to make sure
