Hey, what's going on guys? Welcome back to this episode of the Epic Gardening podcast.

Today I'm going to address apartment gardening and of course it's not a topic that can be addressed in one short show

But I just wanted to riff on it a little bit. I just wanted to talk about it because I get a lot of

requests from friends to help them set up gardens or to help install gardens or to consults or whatever.

But the complaint I get a lot is, oh, I'm just in a studio apartment, I really can't do anything,

or I have a tiny balcony, I can't do anything or I have a tiny balcony I can't do anything well yeah sure I mean you can't have a

huge farm where you're growing giant pumpkins like I was talking about a couple episodes ago

but that doesn't mean you can't grow anything. You can definitely grow stuff. And gardening in a small environment doing some small scale stuff, especially if you're in an urban environment is not only possible but it can have its own

set of advantages because you're limited by space that means yeah you can't grow

large patches of vegetables and fruits and leafy greens

etc. However you can scale down and grow something smaller, maybe a little bit more exotic.

Maybe you're going to invest in a nice fiddly fig and actually care for that plant,

make sure that it's growing correctly.

Maybe you're going to invest in some nice indoor succulents,

maybe a few more rare or interesting herbs that you want to grow,

and having less plants actually allows you to care for those plants more.

You get to devote more attention to them.

So that is sort of rule number one of small scale gardening in my opinion. Now you have two avenues for growth when it

comes to growing in an apartment and one would of course be indoors and the

second would of course be outdoors.

Now let's talk about indoors first.
