But today like I said we're with Karina and she's got just a wealth of experience and all sorts of different things, so it's really hard to quantify, but what we're going to start out with on today's episode is something she's probably most known for and that would be her growing and

Karina. Thanks for having me. So what is a breadseed Poppy, first of all?

Red Seed Poppy, so there's a lot of different types of poppy out there and the bread seeds are actually grown specifically for their seeds, for culinary purposes. They've been used for thousands and thousands of years actually.

So that's, and also they're incredibly beautiful and they're incredible pollinators and the pods themselves

they dry beautifully for decorative purposes afterwards so they're kind of a

multi-purpose poppy.

And then how did you kind of get into this in the first place?

gardening, floral design, flower growing, all the sort of things that you do.

Let's see, so I did fall design. I have my own business for years and years until we moved down to Portland about 14 years ago and I

decided to get more involved in

edible landscapes. So we tore out our front yard and built up my husband helped me

build up 12 raised garden beds at a certain point. We had like it was incredible and

I because the idea was that I would be able to provide food for the family.

So I just kind of learned as I went along, which is kind of my style, what I do here.
