Hello everyone. Welcome back to the podcast. Today we're going to be talking about Ardezia, also known as Christmas Berry. It's kind of a funky little plant and it's a great plant for a winter landscape.

However, it's not really limited to the wintertime.

It's evergreen in most climates that stay above 50 degrees.

So if you're in an area like that, well, then it's evergreen for you

and maybe you should

consider it now it is considered invasive in some areas so you may also want to

consider growing it as an indoor plant and it's really cool because you know the house plant world is all the

rage right now and you really don't see a lot of people talking about Ardezia so I

think that it could be a fun one to try out and maybe show off to your friends. You say, hey, look, I'm growing this.

You have a fiddle leaf fig, which is so common. And here I am over here with my Ordizia.

I'm just kidding. But it is a fun one to mess around with. So let's go ahead and talk about a couple

different varieties that you may want to give a look at and then we'll talk about basic care.

So the first one is going to be the invasive one. So the one that's

considered most invasive, it's Ardezia Crenada and that's the one commonly

known as Christmas Berry. I would really not recommend growing this outdoors.

Definitely grow this as a house plant. So that's Ardisia chronata. You've got Ardisia elliptica.

This is called Coral Berry or Ducks Eye. This one's pretty tall. It can reach up to

16 feet and it has a nice sort of light pink flower with purplish berries. Next you've got

Ardeja japonica commonly called Marlberry and it's actually one of the 50 fundamental herbs in Chinese medicine.

It's a ground cover plant and it's going to do best if you live in zones 8 to 9 but you can
