Let's start with something I wrote on Instagram a while back, where I said, you don't let go by pushing reality away.

You let go by taking reality all the way in. Holding on is what happens when you don't touch the grief

of having to live in a new reality. Holding on is what happens when you don't touch the grief of having to live

in a new reality. Feel what it's like to hear this.

And if there's maybe an intuitive connection to the truth that it's pointing to,

letting go, as I've always said, is an interesting one because there's a, what I perceive as a semantic paradox to it.

It implies moving away from something, but the reality of actually accomplishing that,

or we could say creating space around something is that you actually first have to move closer to it

and see the ways that you're subconsciously tangled up in it.

And many of us don't want to move closer to the thing

that we're trying to move away from

because there is a lot of fear around the pain that we'd have to

encounter. Many times this is subconscious or many times we think it's conscious. There's a past

relationship we're trying to move away from a life that we planned for ourselves.

Maybe we wanted to have kids or couldn't.

Maybe we wanted to get married and didn't.

Maybe we thought we were going to have a certain career or lifestyle,

and life just took a different turn.
