Summary

On this week's Runpod, Jenni is joined by not just a talented runner, but a Gold medal winning jumper. Yes, it's Greg Rutherford! Although retired now, Greg continues to run, and not just those short distances his sport required. Greg and Jenni talk the difference between training as a professional and training now, how he got into long jump, Super Saturday (how could they not?!), his nippy 5k time, running a half marathon with close to zero training, Strava excuses, and if Greg will be running on Christmas day. A fascinating listen!

1:01.6

I can just imagine that you're highly motivated all the time.

1:06.3

It's a bit of a mixed bag.

The funny thing now, when I was an athlete, you get used to a process and a training program is set. So there's certain times you'd get up. I had to get into London when I was London based for a certain time in the morning. So you just get into that routine of doing it. It's just like going to work effectively. But I've been retired now, what, two years just gone, which has flown past.

And it is amazing when it's not your job anymore and when you don't have other people

relying on you to get out there, I've suddenly realized that it can be far more difficult.
