Summary

The Jeremy Kyle Breakfast Show was dominated by the political shockwave from the Gorton and Denton by election, where Green Party candidate Hannah Catherine Spencer was declared the new MP in a historic upset. In what had long been considered safe Labour territory, Labour slumped to third place, Reform UK were beaten by more than 4,000 votes and the Conservatives picked up just 1.9 percent. Jeremy described it as a political earthquake for Sir Keir Starmer, with pressure mounting on Labour’s leadership as voters delivered a dramatic verdict in Greater Manchester.

Reform's David Bull told Talk the party would report the claims of 'family voting' to the police.

The Home of Common Sense. This is Talk.

This is the home of common sense. It is, of course, the home of the alarm clock Britain,

0:09.3

and there's only one story in town. You're waking up to the news that Hannah Spencer,

0:13.4

the Green candidate, becomes the brand new MP for Gorton and Denton,

0:17.6

reform in second place, the Labour Party in third. So much fallout from an election

0:24.0

that so many people have had their eyes on a split constituency, much criticism of all the

0:28.9

candidates, much bitching that went on. At the end of the day, the facts are these. Labor has been

0:34.7

in power in this constituency for 100 years. In the last election, it had 50% of the

0:40.1

vote. Last night, the Labour vote fell to 26%. 24%. Reform, it's Matt Goodwin, 10,578 seats. 29% the man got

0:52.9

locally, which is exactly the figure that reform have been polling at

0:57.1

nationally for the last few months or so. But Hannah Spencer, they've done an amazing job. She

1:03.3

snuck up on the rails. It seemed to me that Labour were bitching about reform and the

1:07.3

Tories were bitching about reform and the Green Party have done what they've done.

1:11.4

The democratic process is the democratic process. Let me start by saying that. But I am not going

1:15.8

to do this show unless it's about honesty. And during this election campaign, when you're

1:19.1

broadcasting, you won't want to know this. I'm just going to tell you there's a thing called

1:22.4

perda, which basically means one has to be as balanced as possible. The people of Gorton and Denton is populated by a large

1:30.1

Muslim population. That's fine. That's absolutely right. Everybody has a chance to vote. There have

1:35.0

already been accusations this morning about sectarian pressure, about family voting. But let me ask

1:41.6

you this. And that was Nigel Farage's tweet earlier on. The election was a

1:45.6

victory for sectarian voting and cheating. Matt Goodwin was a great candidate. Roll on May the 7th,

1:50.8

it'll be good by Stama and good by the Tory Party. Lots of people agreeing. Some have said,
