Hi, from CNN. I'm Josh and Chana with the five things you need to know for Thursday,

January 22nd. President Donald Trump has just kicked off his second day at the World Economic

Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Yesterday, he announced the framework of a deal regarding

Greenland after discussions with NATO's Secretary General Mark Ruta.

We have a concept of a deal. I think it's going to be a very good deal for the United States.

A source says part of that framework includes renegotiating the 1951 agreement between the U.S.

and Denmark that formalized U.S. military presence on Greenland. A NATO official says that could mean the US can build more military bases on land there

considered sovereign U.S. territory.

And Trump says the deal means he's no longer going to impose new tariffs on European

countries that had opposed his ambitions.

Here's what Ruta said.

In my conversations tonight, Mr. President, he's very much focused on what do we need

to do to make sure that that huge Arctic region, where change is taking place at the moment

where the Chinese and Russians are more and more active, how we can protect that.

Meanwhile, Trump is currently officially unveiling his so-called Board of Peace, which will oversee

the reconstruction

of Gaza.

Two sources say he's also set to meet Ukraine's president, Lodemir Zelensky.
