It's not very often you see greatness in sports and don't think much of it.

And you're not really impressed.

You're not slayed by what you're seeing.

It happened at the Open Championship,

the 150th Open Championship this weekend as Cameron Smith became the champion golfer of the year

with a remarkable performance on the final nine holes of the event, birdying six of those nine

holes coming from as much as four back to take the lead

and beat ultimately Rory McElroy and Cameron Young to become champion golf for the year.

It was a spectacular, I mean spectacular,

putting performance.

And I guess one of the things we learned through all this is putting isn't really that sexy.

This is a wonderful golf event.

Huge crowds, over 300,000 people at St. Andrews this weekend for the Open Championship.

And not to take a single thing away from Cameron Smith, who's one of the great young players in the world.

He won the players Championship earlier this year.

He is, I think it's easy to say, the best putter on the planet.

The man made 244 feet of putts on Sunday in his round.

If you divide that by 18 holes, that's almost 14.

His average made put That's almost 14.

His average made putt was almost 14 feet long.
