And I'm Antonio Dodge. A few months ago, I decided to do something that I had been holding off on doing for about a decade.

And that is when I left the religion of my youth.

I knew that there were support groups out there

and Facebook groups and people that I could connect with

that had also left.

And since I left and had left while being shunned I was particularly hurt. It was like it was

a very painful time period to not only sort of lose the infrastructure of my mind while simultaneously losing my family and friends support structure.

So it was a really rough time period.

And I strongly considered joining a support group or something to that effect.

But every time I ventured out into that, unfortunately it seemed that most of the people who are trying to be supportive of each other were just, they were just too angry.

They had gone down this path of being angry for all the trauma that they had experienced,

which I understood, but I wasn't angry.

That's not the emotion I felt and I didn't want to be in that energy.

I wanted to be in an energy where I was healing from whatever I perceived were traumas, but I was also very insistent on integrating the positives. I didn't want to I

didn't want to lose the positives of of what I had been you know had been

given my entire life. So anger didn't seem like the right emotion for me so I did I just didn't join any of those groups.

About a decade later I saw a face a recommended Facebook group pop up that was called basically the

title of it was like empowered people who had come from this religion and I

thought okay well I'm gonna I'm gonna check that out I've never joined a Facebook group around this

subject but I was gonna check it out and see if there was anything there for me and it had been you know a decade since I'd gone so I figured I was probably okay.
