God brought Abram outside and said, look up at the sky and count the stars if you think you can count them. He continued.

This is how many children you will have.

Abram trusted the Lord, and the Lord recognized Abrams' high moral character.

But Sarai, Abram's wife, had not been able to have children. Since she had an Egyptian servant

named Hagar, Sarai said to Abram, The Lord has kept me from giving birth, so go to my servant.

Maybe she will provide me with children.

Abram did just as Sarai said.

Have you ever fallen to the folly of not waiting for God?

Have you ever forfeited the blessing of having God work for you while you waited? Impatient. Well, this meditation from 2 Peter

3 is a reflection on patience. Learning to wait on God by considering your own inadequacy, while at the same

time embracing the Lord's all-sufficiency, turning away from the evil of not waiting on God.

So to begin, whether at first or last light, allow the next 15 minutes to be an intermission

from your own striving so to contemplate the gift of god's patience allow your breathing to

your breathing to settle and your eyes to slowly close and just settle deeper into this place as you start to notice

yourself slowing down this holy time of God's assurance and a moment of silent serenity

as you center on the tolerance of God, Spirit, and Son.

Continue now by responding to this passage from 1 Timothy chapter 2 as I lead us. Respond simply, Lord God, grant me your patience.
