On July 24, 2011, local police in Richmond, Texas discovered the dismembered and scattered

remains of a body at the bottom of a creek right next to Fort Bend.

But this wasn't just any creek, of course.

No, it was one in which alligators were known to congregate.

That said, while it was clear a murder of some kind had occurred here, given the terrible

condition of the body, it was hard to clarify what had happened and who the victim had been

at first.

Eventually, though, once forensic work was carried out, the authorities were able to

determine that these remains belonged to Laura Ackerson, a 27-year-old woman from

Kingston, North Carolina, who'd been reported missing by her friend's 11 days prior.

But how had she gotten in this creek and who had gone to the trouble of butchering her

body so badly?

While no one realized it at that particular moment, there were actually two culprits,

Laura's ex-boyfriend Grant Hayes and his then-wife Amanda, and what makes this even more

chilling was the fact that Grant was actually the father of Laura's two children.
