The government is set for another funding deadline this Friday and House Speaker Mike

Johnson has expressed confidence that a temporary bill to keep the government funded through

September will pass this week. He's called on Senate Democrats to quote, do the right thing

to avert a government shutdown.

If the House passes the bill, then it will go to the Senate, and for it to pass, some Senate Democrats would have to vote in favour of it.

Ahead of the House vote tomorrow, House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries and his leadership team are urging their members to oppose the stop gap,

as House Democrat Ilhan Omar spoke to CNN earlier to explain why.

We cannot support a continued resolution when Republicans who control the House and the Senate

have not made any effort to negotiate with us on what the CR would look like, especially when they

are making $13 billion in cuts to programs that people care about.

Amid tariff rouse and uncertainty of government funding, the Dowel tumbled by a thousand

points today, as Trump says he won't rule out a recession. U.S. and Ukrainian officials have arrived today in Saudi Arabia ahead of crunch talks tomorrow.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskyy said on social media, quote,

Peace is our shared goal, as he reiterated his country's gratitude to all partners working to bring peace closer.

Zelensky himself, though, is not expected to attend the meetings tomorrow, even though he is in Saudi Arabia.

U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, who is meeting with Ukrainian officials, is hopeful about the meeting,
