Amid several trade wars, there might only be one word to describe the US's economic situation at the moment.

Uncertain. Just earlier today, the Ontario Premier Doug Ford threatened to shut off electricity to US states

if the trade war between the US and Canada escalates.

He's already moving forward with a 25% surcharge on electricity exports to three US states,

and this comes as China's tariffs on. agricultural goods come into effect today.

Last night, Trump refused to rule out a recession in an interview with Fox News.

And today, the director of the White House National Economic Council, Kevin Hassett, tried to

play down these recession fears, saying, uncertainty is, quote, creating jobs in the US.

However, all this uncertainty is not going down so well with Americans.

A new Federal Bank of New York survey shows Americans believe higher unemployment and inflation are on the way.

A mayor in Gaza says Israel's move to cut off electricity to the enclave threatens to set off

a health and environmental disaster and will intensify the existing water crisis.

On Sunday, Israel cut off the power to the last facility in Gaza with working electricity.

Israeli Energy and Infrastructure Minister, Eli Cohen, said in a statement, the country did

so to quote, ensure the return of all the hostages.

People in Gaza have largely relied on generators and solar power since the October 7th,

Hamas attacks.

CNN's Jeremy Diamond says this move comes a week after Israel already moved to cut off humanitarian aid and other essential supplies going into Gaza.

That includes not only food aid, which will have an enormous impact on Gazans in the next couple of weeks if nothing is done to bring more food in,

but also, of course, fuel, which is indeed currently powering much of Gaza.
