disproportionate significance such that they become their own counterfeit gospel offering a form

of political salvation. We are borrowing heavily from David Koic' important book, political visions and illusions,

wherein he masterfully critiques the more prominent political idols within our society

and the false salvation story that they promise.

So we have discussed classic liberalism and its idol of the individual.

Last episode, we discussed conservatism and its idol of the past.

Today, we are going to pick up a political idol that has always been prominent throughout the history of our country, but recently

has seen a resurgence within conservative Christian circles in particular, the government

gospel of nationalism. Let's discuss once again using the outline of explanation, examination,

and then exhortation.
