| 1:21.0 | than political philosophies and beliefs. Instead, we have made them idols, vainly trusting them to save our culture, nation, future, |
| 1:32.4 | and so on. They have become their own counterfeit gospel of salvation, thus the title |
| 1:39.1 | government gospels. I have sufficiently introduced and qualified this series, and now it is time to dive in. |
| 1:49.6 | And the first government gospel I'm going to address is classic liberalism. |
| 1:56.3 | And the reason why I'm starting here is that liberalism for us in America is the reigning ideology from which |
| 2:02.7 | every other political ideology flows. It kind of serves as the foundation of political thought, |
| 2:10.9 | not just for Americans, but truly all Western society. So we think that Democrats and Republicans are political rivals with entirely |
| 2:22.6 | different starting points and ways of viewing the world and the role of government therein. |
| 2:28.2 | But in reality, our partisan divide should be viewed more as a sibling rivalry within the same family. |
| 2:37.6 | And the last name of that family is liberalism. |
| 2:41.4 | So for the most part in America, we have essentially liberal liberals, conservative liberals, |
