Hello, and welcome back to the Thinking Fellows podcast. My name is Scott Keith, and I am joined again tonight by Dr. Adam Francisco, again here on my left, and Dr. Rod Rosenblatt over here.

Last couple times, we talked a little bit about sin. We talked about the law.

Tonight, on our third show, we want to talk about the gospel.

And so as we did last time around, I thought maybe we'd start out with just a round of questions.

Let's see if we can get our heads wrapped around. What is this thing that we call the gospel?

So Dr. Rosenblatt, what do you think? When we say the gospel, what is it?

Well, verses are always the best place to start, and we're going to

read, I'm sure, from 1 Corinthians 15, the first half dozen verses. The thing that's important to notice there

in that announcement by Paul, and he calls it the gospel in those verses, The thing to notice is that there isn't a single reference to us, really, other than

as recipients.

The whole thing is objective, and that's hard for Americans.

We're always looking for our spot into the game.

Very difficult for Americans to see that the gospel is objective

rather than subjective. It's certainly not the verse from Revelation about Jesus

knocking at the door of your heart. There's nothing of that in those first six verses in Corinthians. It's a

straight delivery of who Jesus was and what he did, and that's the end of it. So the gospel

centers on who Christ was and what he did, and then we received the benefits from it.

That's beyond the First Corinthians verses.
