Indicted Republican lawmaker George Santos expelled from U.S. House.

I welcome the author of the new book, The Fabulist, Mark Chisano, who has very carefully documented

when he was a reporter for News Day and now afterwards for his own book,

on the strange conduct of George Santos, a man who is easy to forgive

until you read the details in Mark's book, especially about his quick

conclusion of this troubled human being.

Mark, a very good evening to you the first time you met George Santos, 2019.

What were the conditions? Good evening to you.

Well, thanks so much for having me. Yeah, it feels like both a long time ago and a short time ago now that he's that he's out of Congress. But this was in 2019 and it was for a story that my editor wanted me to do.

She said, you know, there's this new guy running against Tom Swazi,

very strong incumbent on Long Island, obviously.

But he's running as a Republican against him.

So call him up.

So I did.

I gave Santos a call, and he picked up immediately.

And he said, you know, basically, good day to catch me because I'm launching my

campaign today this very day but it turned out that he was in Florida at the moment for a

work conference not New York.
