I welcome Thaddeus MacArthur, American Greatness, to comment on the news from the Wall Street

Journal in these last hours.

House lawmakers voted to remove Kevin McCarthy's speaker.

It's the first time in U.S. history that a speaker has been voted out.

Republicans joined with all Democrats in voting for a motion to vacate, forcing McCarthy

to relinquish his post.

The vote plunges the chamber into chaos, says the Wall Street Journal, and limits the

GOP's ability to make progress on conservative goals.

Because there is no precedent from McCarthy's removal, says the journal.

It is not immediately clear what happens next.

You are a veteran of these tussles, the floor of Congress.

It is driven by one young man named Matt Gates, who's been in and out of the news for

years, never in a flattering fashion.

Eight Republicans, Gates plus seven others, voted with all Democrats who were present.

So the final count was 216 to 210.

Your measure, since we're an uncharted territory here, we're told that Ms. McCarthy went back

to his speaker's office with his leadership to confer.
