past six months in regards to this very important topic. In July of 2018, Google rolled out its

page speed algorithm update. This marked the beginning of Google using page speed as a ranking

factor. This update focused in on mobile search

results and how fast pages were coming up on mobile phones. Recently, Backlinko analyzed over

one million search results pages on Google, and they found that the average page load speed

was a huge factor in getting a first page ranking.

The average page load speed of the number one ranked posts on Google was right around

1.9 seconds. The average speed needed to break into the top 10, meaning the number 10 ranked

post, was at 2.25 seconds.
